Graduation day

4th December 2010 - Graduation marks the happiest time throughout my whole four years in University of Otago even though my family was not there to witness it. It just feels unreal that I am going to step into the real world. Well, not quite yet but it is the pathway to passing my big and final registration exam next year in order to get the title “pharmacist”. All four years of hard work, complaints, fun, stress, frustration, worries, expectation, both ups and downs are finally paid off when I saw the word “pass” on pims.

During this wonderful day, it was with great joy to see familiar cheerful faces in hunter centre along with their closed ones. As for me, Art kept me company all the way through the graduation ceremony. I am also grateful towards Arthur for inviting me to join his family for graduation dinner. It was indeed an unforgettable and memorable day for all the graduates.

The day before my actual graduation, Bea invited me to photo-taking session at clock tower.

Getting ready

We were holding the trencher caps cos' there is a print stating "Do Not Throw" (We were really obedient, weren't we?)

With Bea's and Joanne's families, Arthur, IngLing, Jeanne, David and Charlotte

My heels are killing me slowly which is the reason I wore flat shoes during graduation

This photo looks cool, isn't it?

I really like Bea's dress because of its sweet colour

When I reached home, I did not realise the bouquet of flowers in the sink until I almost went out. The night before, Jon asked me if I would be home at 4pm the next day as he bought a NZD 100 stylish and heavy clock from trademe. I even told him off for spending his money that way. When I saw the flowers, my heart melted and was over the moon. Thank you Ethel McMillan and Benjamin flatties! Jon, you are very good in giving me surprises. Also, he said randomly that the 6 yellow roses represented each of them and there are indeed 6 of them by chance. Jonnieboy, I will be more alerted in the future when you tell me something. Who knows I might get a one carat diamond from you *lols* (I know you want to say give me buluss nia!)

Correction! I am NOT a pharmacist yet.

 L.O.V.E xoxo for them

I then took the flowers with me to capture some photos at botanic garden. Photographer: Art

I love playground *swing*

The graduation started off with morning tea and prize presentation at hunter in the morning. After that, we all went our separate ways before assembling in front of Dent School for the parade along George Street to Town Hall. I personally thought this was the most enjoyable one among the graduation events.

Joe! Thank you for coming! Keep in touch!

The parade begins...

It took quite a while before the ceremony commenced inside town hall. When the organist stopped playing, the staff of pharmacy school and school of education walked in accompanied by the playing of pipe organs if I am not mistaken (My memory span is just like a goldfish’s *grin*).

After speech by the chancellor, the graduands went up the stage to get “capped” (I have no idea what you call it) and returned to their seats with jolly smiles and confidence. What happened next was a KappaHakka performance by students from high school. We all then gathered in front of the foyer for group photos which ended my delightful graduation on the day.

I gave mine to Art and Bert

 Look at Natalie Tan!

 We are graduates!

With the dean of pharmacy school. I really like him because he is not only approachable but also amiable and friendly. During the parade, he even walked with the students linking arm to arm with Arthur!

Yes, my queen. Your wish is my command.

 Our cert of friendship forever

Lotte is always beautiful as usual

It was very hot standing under the scorching weather but for photo purpose, all of us have just have to make some sacrifices especially the girls.

No throwing? *heeeee*

 Walking home happily

At 6.30pm, Arthur picked me up to Tall Poppy in Port Chalmers

Graduation is once in a lifetime for some including me which is why I really cherish this special day when all of us come together in one place but it is also the day that we last meeting each other. I believe that one day, we will see each other again somewhere in this world. Keep in touch! FACEBOOK is the word!

I would love to thank God for his grace and guidance throughout my years in uni. Also, the weather was awesome, hot and sunny, for our eventful ceremony especially the parade.

On a side note, I would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Juang Tum-booms which was on the same day as my graduation! I love you ! I know you love me TOO! *si ai bin
